Lecture by Jyrki Manninen, PhD, adj. prof., Sodankylä Geophysical Observatory, University of Oulu. The presentation will tell what are Northern Lights, where they exist, when they are seen, how they can be predicted, what are the effects related to them, and what kind of beliefs have been related to them in history. After this presentation you should be able to understand what causes the phenomenon and when and where you can see the Northern Lights.
